Christmas Ornaments2 cups (1 lb.) of baking soda1 cup of cornstarch 1 1/4 cup cold water Stir the baking soda and cornstarch in a saucepan. Add the water and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. When mixture is the consistency of moist mashed potatoes, turn onto a plate and cover with a damp cloth. When it's cool enough to handle, knead it until smooth. Roll out the "clay" between two sheets of wax paper to 1/4" thickness. Then cut out the desired shapes with cookie cutters. Poke a hole through the top of each with a toothpick or straw. Place on a cookie sheet to dry overnight, or dry in an 350°F over for 15 minutes. When dry and cook, paint with acrylic paints, poster paints, watercolors, or felt-tip pens. To finish, apply a coat of polyurethane or clear nail polish to protect for years to come!
