  • Health Finder
    http://www.healthfinder.gov/
This web site from the Department of Health and Human Services provides direct links to online publications and databases whose material includes consumer health information from Federal agencies. This summer, the department plans to unveil a more extensive search engine, the National Women's Health Information Clearinghouse, at http://www.4woman.org/.

  • The Wellness Web's Women's Health Page
    http://www.wellweb.com/
The Wellness Web's Women's Health Page is set up and monitored by patients and allows users to chat with other patients. It refers users to sources that range from the Journal of the American Medical Association to patient accounts (more carefully screened than those on Medweb) on issues like smoking during pregnancy and premenstrual syndrome.

  • The American Medical Women's Association

Searches turn up material from sources that range from medical journals to patients' personal accounts, some of which include obscenity. A discouraging number of linked sites turn out to have incorrect URLs.
