Pita Crisps
submitted by August 1997 Mom's List

3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon dried basil -- crumbled
3/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
6 large whole-wheat pita bread -- cut

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. In a large bowl combine the olive oil, basil and salt. Add the cut-up pitapieces and toss well, coating evenly with the oil mixture. On 2 largebaking sheets, spread out the pita pieces in a single layer. Bake inpreheated oven for about 4 minutes, then turn the pieces over and continuebaking for 4 to 5 more minutes or until golden and crisp. (FYI: I found thatyou really have to watch carefully as these cook because with the olive oilthey tend to burn pretty quickly.)

NOTES: Makes 48 crisps.
