This week's question:

IS SECOND HAND SMOKE ALSO KNOWN AS MUCK,BAD FOR MY 16 MONTH ? IM A PERSON WHO ENJOYS LIGHTING UP ,MY HUSBAND GETS MAD BECAUSE THE BABY SMELLS LIKE SMOKE.

-- CAROL

Carol,

Tobacco smoke is very harmful to infants and young children. Because their bodies are not fully formed, they are much more vulnerable than adults to second-hand smoke. And we know that second-hand smoke can cause cancer in some people. If you love your child, it would be best not to smoke when the baby is with you, except possibly outside. The best thing you could do for yourself and your baby is stop smoking. I know it can be done because I did it about 20 years ago. And I have never regretted it.

Working together we can make a difference.
