I am a single mom. My child was sick. I was told that I could not stay out of work because of a sick child. This happen months ago, I was written up yesterday for it. Is this possible where can I find this rule about staying out with a sick child.

The Family and Medical Leave Act allows you to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave a year to care for a sick relative. However, this applies only to companies with at least 50 or more employees. Please note, I said UNPAID LEAVE. If you were asking for time off with pay and you have already used up your sick leave/vacation time, etc., then your employer is within his/her rights to tell you you can't have paid time off.
