Changing times at Work and Home

Most parents say they are happier at work now than they were five years ago, according to a recent survey by Family Service America. Of 1,003 working parents, 79 percent said their work life is improving—they're learning new skills, working flextime and earning better benefits. Those who said work changed for the worse complained of working hours they don't like and worrying about job loss. Happily, though the majority of parents said they enjoy working, feel they make a real contribution and are trusted and respected at work.

Family life is also changing, according to the survey. Forty-one percent of parents report spending more time with their kids than they did two years ago, doing activities like visiting friends, attending school events, reading together and taking drives. The trade-off: Parents spend less time with each other.

Is your balance of work and kids affecting your relationship with your spouse? How do you re-connect? Please share your stories and tips with us at family@moms-refuge.com.
