Liza N. Burby

Liza Burby Liza N. Burby is an award-winning author who has been in the business for 18 years, writing for newspapers, magazines and book publishers. She also has written 39 nonfiction books for elementary through high school readers and is working on two books for parents. She is a weekly parenting columnist for Newsday, as well as a regular contributor to Newsday's fitness, family, women's, entertainment and gardening pages.

Liza (pronounced LEEZA) also writes for more than 25 magazines, including Child, Parents, Parenting, Better Homes & Garden, Sesame Street Parents and Ladies' Home Journal, and the weekly, the Long Island Voice. Her areas of focus include parenting, women's and health issues, like friendship, marriage and work, and social issues, such as family violence, racism, hunger and eating disorders.

Perhaps most important of all, Liza is the mother of two daughters, Danielle, age 9 and Laura, age 5, and is married to Stephen, a high school teacher. They live in Huntington Station, NY.
