It started in 1997 with a bad day in a bad week — we recently moved to a too small house, the kids were sick, I had pressing deadlines in my home-based business, the new babysitter wasn't working out, and my husband didn't get it — then I got sick, too.
I needed to reach out and find a lifeline ... NOW ... or my sanity was going down for the third time. So, I took a chance and wrote the "Working Mom's rant" to Spiderwoman, one of the Web design lists I subscribe to and ... incredibly ... I received a flood of responses back almost immediately! All those other working Moms, juggling just like me.
I had felt for a long time that there wasn't a site on the Web that really spoke to me and my life. So, I invited this impromptu community of working moms to help me create that place. Out of this was born "The Working Moms' Internet Refuge". This is a home for all of us who live the manic life of juggling.
This is not a corporate image of what your life is like ... or what your life needs. This site is produced by women living the same life as you — we juggle babies and dinners and work and sanity. Come share with us your tales, your tips, your questions ... you can talk to other Moms on the lists and you can always blow off steam on the rant boards.

Kim B. Foglia is president of WriteDesign, Ltd., a Long Island, NY, Internet business consulting firm. She lives with her husband Stuart, a molecular biologist and Mac fixit guy ... a dog who sheds too much ... and her two children Justin (7) and Emma (3) who has thankfully learned to tolerate being breastfed at the keyboard.
